I Got Contacted By A Newcomer To Youtube. Was I Spammed?

I received a message from someone who claimed she was new to YouTube and said that she just “hit” my profile and thought that I appeared to be an interesting person (or something similar to that. I can’t recall this precisely) and that she didn’t know what she was supposed to do on the site.
I can understand that people are a bit confused when first arriving to a web community like this, and that they find it natural to ask an “old-timer” for advice, but here’s the problem:
Instead of asking me if I could in-box “her” on YouTube, “she” did instead tell me that If I “felt like talking with her” I should go to www.friendmagik.org
and then “she” told me her supposed nickname on the site.
I tried out the above mentioned URL just to see where it led, and here’s the site: www.friendjungle.com a dating-site that I suspect is using spammers to lure new customers into their site. Am I right about this, or is it just another noob who really does not understand how to communicate on YouTube?

You were most certainly spammed my friend. its a common trick used on social/ community based sites. next time just ignore or go to their user link and select block user.

I just got that spam today – username “Adrianna97nf” – no direct link to hir friendmagic page – signed name (“Gabrielle Robinson”) has nothing to do with the username. And let’s face it – anyone calling themselves “cutefox” has serious issues. If it were a real person, she’d be a complete drama-magnet/drama-source.
Mark the message as spam and go on with your life.
